Sayuri Ishikawa Profile
Born on January 30th, from Kumamoto Prefecture.
During the summer vacation of his third year of junior high school, he participated in a competition on behalf of a friend and became the grand champion, making his drama debut in Fuji TV's "Hikaru Umi."
The following year, in 1973, she made her debut as a singer with the single "Kakurenbo" (Hide and Seek), and in 1977, she won the Japan Record Award for Best Vocal Performance for the single "Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki" (Winter Scenes of the Tsugaru Straits), among other awards.
In the same year, she made her first appearance on the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Since then, she has released a string of hits, including "Noto Peninsula," "Hatoba Shigure," "Amagi Goe," and "Kaze no Bon Renka," and she showed off her jazzy side with the CM song "Whiskey ga, Osuki Desho," which became a hot topic.
Centering on his own recitals, he has established a style of "song theater" that only Ishikawa can achieve by fusing singing and acting.
He has received praise from all quarters, and his play "Kiga Kaikyo" won the Grand Prize at the 62nd Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival.
Since then, he has continued to create music without the boundaries of genre, and has produced the "X-Cross-" series of collaborative albums with other artists.
In 2017, he received the 68th Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize for his achievements, mainly in relation to his 45th anniversary recital.
He was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon in the spring of 2019. He has released a three-disc concept album titled "JAPAN," which compiles music that represents three different eras of Japanese music: "Warashi" in the Showa era, "Tami" in the Heisei era, and "Iki" in the Reiwa era.
Since her debut as a singer, she has released over 3,000 Japanese songs, and last year she received the Fujita Masato Award for her commemorative song "Zanyuki" (Remaining Snow), which marked her 50th anniversary.
She is an undisputed diva in the Japanese music industry, with strong support from people of all ages and genders.
